IN NEED OF A MAKEOVER!
PeopleEnEspanol.com user Cindy Oyola was in serious need of a makeover. It had been a while since she had cut her hair and desperately wanted to try something new. “I want to look different, be in the now,” Cindy told us.
BYE BYE HAIR
Cindy’s long hair was dull and she had split ends. That’s why the first step was to cut all that hair in order to rejuvenate her look. “Her hair is naturally wavy but because it’s so long and full, it takes away the natural waves,” said Christo.
THE RIGHT LAYERS
Cindy has really tick hair and a lot. In order to cut down on the thickness of the mane, and to make it easier for her to style it at home, our stylist used the blade technique in place of scissors to lessen the volume of her hair.
NATURAL IS BETTER
The expert, who has worked with ar celebs like Mel B and Dayanara Torres, decided to keep Cindy’s natural hair color, as the black really goes well with her complexion and the color of her eyes. However, to add a bit of shine, Christo applied his Colorective system in Double Espresso, a coloring treatment with a vegetable base that conditions the hair.
Then, Christo dried her hair out while applying the Styling Spray from his Curlisto line and then setting it in curlers to get real volume out of her new style. “With this cut, she has the option of drying her hair or leaving it naturally wavy with a bit of mousse,” assured the skilled stylist.
SKIN CARE COMES FIRST
Before putting on the makeup, professional makeup artist Tara Drake applied M.A.C’s Care Blends Essential Oils (top), a mix of botanical oils that regenerates and softens the skin. She then with Embryolisse moisturizer Lait-Creme Concentré (center) and finished off with a layer of HD Microperfecting Primer by Make Up For Ever. “It’s really important to prepare your skin before applying the makeup with products that both moisturize and protect the skin,” she said.
Our experts swears by Make Up For Ever to achieve a flawless look. She applied the HD Invisible Cover Foundation and the HD Microfinish Powder as the final layer. Then, she applied some blush and finished with a bit of bronzer just beneath the cheeks to accentuate the cheekbones.
CARE FOR YOUR EYES
For Drake applying a good eye cream is essential. “The skin around your eyes is very sensitive and requires moisture and protection at all times,” she explaines. Her personal favorite is Fast Response Eye Cream by M.A.C. (top). Our makeup exoert also suggests paying extra attention to the eyebrows, as it is “they frame our face”, she says and reminds us that “strong eyebrows are definitely in” now. Drake recommends applying a brow gel after penciling them in so they can stay in place. We recommend the Coconut Amla Lash and Brow Conditioner by Global Goddess.
Drake opted for soft smoky eyes, which Cindy could wear during the day. On the lips, she applied a brick red. Tip: Before adding any lip gloss, Drake suggests using a lip liner of the same color, this will make your lipstick last longer.
THE NEW CINDY
When she saw herself, Cindy could not believe it was still her. “What a change!”, she said excitedly. “I look so different. The hair feels very light and swift. This is the new me.”
