SELENA GÓMEZ VS. MILEY CYRUS
Mean girls came to life when it was announced that tweeny bopper Selena Gómez (who 'everybody' is calling 'the next Miley Cyrus.') was dating Nick Jonas, Miley's supposed ex-boyfriend. Drama ensued when the catty Disney Channel princess Miley and her bff made fun of fellow Disney princess Selena and her friend in a nasty video, which they posted on YouTube.
LUPILLO RIVERA VS. ALEJANDRO FERNANDEZ
In the spring of 2007 Mexican singer Lupillo Rivera insinuated that fellow Mexican crooner Alejandro Fernandez might be gay. Alejandro kept his mouth shut, but then made this statement: "I only know about Lupillo through the tabloids...I think he said something about my sexuality or something like that. I am sure of mine, don't know if he is. If I remember clearly, he is man enough because I believe his wife was suing him for domestic violence; so he is a real man, a true gentleman!"
LUCÍA MÉNDEZ VS. VERÓNICA CASTRO
Both Castro and Méndez started their careers in the 70's, but when they became successful, they became competitive, and refused to even talk to each other. Recently the actresses hugged each other in Mexico City at a screening of Mujeres asesinas, but that doesn't mean they're necessarily friends.
ELY GUERA VS. PAULINA RUBIO
Guerra claimed that Rubio needed a few singing lessons, which probably made the pop star's blood boil, because when a Mexican journalist asked her who she preferred between Julieta Venegas or Guerra, Rubio hung up the phone.
NIURKA VS. THE WORLD
The Cuban actress has managed to burn bridges with nearly everyone. She's has beef with former boyfriends like producer Juan Osorio and actor Bobby Larios. And let's not forget her bout with producer Carmen Salinas upon bowing out of Aventurera. Her latest rival is TV Azteca and Televisa, stations that are currently censoring her from their programming.
MADONNA VS. CHRISTOPHER CICCONE
Best known as the gay brother and onetime loyal confidante of pop star Madonna, Christopher Ciccone skewered his big sister in a new tell-all tome, Life With My Sister Madonna. The most damaging thing of all is not the revelation that Sean Penn told her she couldn't act, but that Guy Ritchie is a homophobe and more of a houseboy than a husband, and that Madonna is a true-to-form lesbian.
EDITH GONZÁLEZ VS. GABY ESPINO
It's been said that González and Gaby Espino refuse to even look at each other when they're out in public after the Venezuelan actress slapped the Mexican starlet so hard that it left a red mark on he face during the taping of telenovela Mundo de fieras.
PAULINA VS. THALÍA
The bad blood between the Latina divas started when they were both members of a Menudo-like teen music group called Timbiriche. Paulina was 12. Thalia was 13. Paulina was trying to get the microphone during a performance, Thalia allegedly wouldn't let her have it, so Paulina pulled her hair.
ALEJANDRA GUZMÁN VS. PAULINA RUBIO
It's been rumored that once upon a time, Paulina Rubio and Alejandra Guzmán had some fightin' words, all because of the ex Timbiriche Erick Rubín. Things got so messy rumor has it that once, when Rubio sang "Mío" (Mine), the Mexican rocker yelled out "Hey güera!" (Hey fake blond!).
CHESPIRITO VS. LA CHILINDRINA AND KIKO
Once a happy family, the cast of the hit TV show turned dysfunctional when Chespirito (who created the roles of El Chavo del Ocho and Chapulin Colorado) sued his former co-stars María Antonieta de las Nieves and Carlos Villagrán to prevent them from using the show's characters in Mexico without his permission.
DADDY YANKEE VS. DON OMAR
The beef started when the two reggaetoneros were involved in a rivalry within the genre, dubbed "tiraera". It originated with a lyrical conflict begun by Daddy Yankee's remix single, where he criticized Don Omar's nickname "King of Kings," to which the Don responded with a song "Ahora Son Mejor." The two made up in March 2008, when they sang together at a Wisin y Yandel concert.
GABY SPANIC VS. JOSE ÁNGEL LLAMAS
Â Â Â Spanic and Llamas fell in love when both starred in La venganza. The Venezuelen even left her then-boyfriend to be with the Mexican actor. But the love went sour only after a year, and she wrote a book, with a whole chapter dedicated to Llamas, whom she described as a liar and a blackmailer.
THALÍA VS. LAURA ZAPATA
Telenovleas aren't even this good. The details aren't clear as to why these two sisters hate each other so much. It could have something to do with the fact that Thalia never visited Zapata in the hospital after she suffered temporary facial paralysis from reading in the papers that her other sister Ernestina accused Zapata that she'd devised her own kidnapping. And you thought your family was dysfunctional...
NAOMI CAMPBELL VS. TYRA BANKS
Catfight! The claws really came out when Naomi was accused of calling photographers and agents and telling them not to hire Tyra. Tyra said: "In the fashion community there is an unwritten, but a spoken, rule that there can only be one top black model at the time. And I don't think [Naomi] so great to that." The two reconciled when Tyra invited Naomi to her talk show in 2005.
ROCÍO AND SHAILA DÚRCAL VS. JUAN GABRIEL
For years, the mother of Shaila Dúrcal, Rocío Dúrcal, and Juan Gabriel had an amicable friendship. However, when the Spanish singer died in 2006, they'd already grown apart. The reasons are unclear, but an ex assistant claims that the songstress caught her husband in bed with Gabriel, and Shaila still doesn't speak to him.
MYRKA DELLANOS VS. MARÍA CELESTE ARRARAS
The former host of Primer impacto (Univisión) turned red in the face when in 2006 María Celeste Arrarás announced on her show, Al rojo vivo (Telemundo), that her ex colleague left Univisión when she started her romance with Luis Miguel. Myrka replied: "That hurt a lot. Maybe she did it for publicity." To which Arrarás shot back: "I've never had to resort to scandals or date famous people to further my career." Ouch!
LAURA BOZZO & JAIME BAYLEY
On his TV show, El francotirador(Canal 2) in Peru, Jaime Bayley badmouthed Laura and accused her of using minors to create fictitious situations on her talk show Laura en América. Laura's reputation was virtually crushed, and she's still trying to sue him for defamation.
JUANES VS. CABAS
The rivalry stems from an alleged love affair Juanes had with the woman who's now Cabas' wife, Johana Bahamón. When Juanes separated from his wife Karen, there were rumors that he was dating Johana, who was Cabas' girlfriend at the time. Cabas on Juanes: "He is like a brother to me, a person I love. Yet they associate him with Johana and that's what I don't understand. Just because they were photographed in a bar they were dating?"
LUCERO VS. NAILEA NORVIND
In all soaps, it's only natural to love the lead and hate the villain. This wasn't the case in Cuando llega el amor, starring Lucero, who, according to rumors, became furious when Nailea Norvind was loved by fans and got more press for being the evil Alejandra.
ALICIA MACHADO VS. DONALD TRUMP
The former Miss Universe and Playboy playmate was told by Donald trump that she was "an eating machine" during her reign, for having gained 20 lbs after being crowned, and losing a Special K cereal ad campaign for having put on so much weight. The Donald wanted to take the crown away from her, but was unsuccessful.
