In the beginning, there were 25 People en Español beauties. The first edition had Ricky Martin on the cover, in full "Livin' La Vida Loca" mode. Since then, the Puerto Rican superstar has been a constant presence on our list.

Sweet and young Puerto Rican actor Carlos Ponce graced the cover of our second "most beautiful" edition, right before his singing debut. In this year, Thalía, Salma Hayek and Luis Miguel appeared on the list for the first time.

This was a year of many changes...we went from having bellezas (beauties) to bellos (beautiful ones), the list increased from 25 to 50 and the cover became a gatefold. For the occasion, we went to Hollywood and photographed actor Juan Soler, presenter Myrka Dellanos, singer Luis Fonsi, and Michelle Rodríguez, among others.

The success of the group photo from the previous year prompted us to go for a triple gatefold of nine Latino divas. They all wore white and diamonds from Tiffany's. The images were inspired by a Celia Cruz song, "La vida es un carnaval" ("Life is a carnival").
