The Start - La La and Carmelo in 2004
After a decade-long relationship and seven years of marriage, La La and Carmelo Anthony’s romance is coming to an end, according to TMZ. This isn’t the first time that the couple makes headlines for accusations of infidelity. Aside from the positive moments, such as their wedding day and the birth of their now-10-year-old son Kiyan, New York’s “first couple” has definitely hit their rockiest moment. Here’s a look at their relationship – the highs and lows – in seven moments.
In 2004, the couple gets engaged on Christmas Day.
2007 - And Baby Makes Three
Their son, Kiyan Carmelo Anthony, was born on March 7. “The baby is absolutely gorgeous and I am so excited to have seen my first grandchild!” grandmother Carmen Vazquez told PEOPLE at the time.
2010 - They Say 'I Do'
The Anthonys get married after six years of engagement at Cipriani’s in New York. “We’ve been engaged since Melo was 19 years old. We were like ‘Let’s just take our time,’” said La La in an interview with Access Hollywood in 2012. “We didn’t put a time on it. I stopped kind of thinking about it.”
2012 - The Turning Point
Carmelo was publically accused of cheating on his wife after a 19-year-old woman claimed she had a two-month relationship with the NBA player after he messaged her on Twitter.
2013 - Basketball Feud
Rumors sparked that former NBA player Kevin Garnett told Anthony that his wife “tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios” during a basketball game. Carmelo went on to say, “There’s some things as men that you just don’t say.” This bizarre encounter led to rumors of martial problems and the couple living apart for two months.
2015 - Strike Two
Years later, the script was flipped on La La when she was accused of cheating with rapper Maino. A woman left angry comments on the former MTV VJ’s Instagram page claiming to be Maino’s girlfriend. The couple took to social media to kill the rumors by rapping Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill’s song, “All Eyes On You.”
2017 - The End?
After new reports of infidelity, La La and her husband, Carmelo, separated in April 2017. Rumors circulated that the NBA player had an illicit relationship with another woman that resulted in pregnancy.
