Many became acquainted with Sofia Reyes when the Mexican star's hit with Jason Derulo and De la Ghetto, “1-2-3,” rose up the charts back in 2018. Now the singer and songwriter is back with an all-women team for “R.I.P,” a song dedicated to positive vibes and escaping the negative energy that comes your way — “R.I.P to the bullshit” they sing, with an accompanying gesture of strength that's sure to catch on.

The international trio on the track, created by Reyes, includes Brazilian artist Anitta and British-Albanian pop singer Rita Ora. It's upbeat tune embraces the dangerous woman. The video, set in a staged tropical garden, follows all three beauties dancing along with backup dancer's wearing candy skull makeup.

The song opens up with a different spin on Selena Quintanilla's “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.” Infused with cumbia undertones, the Latin pop track is as vibrant and colorful as the video in which Ora (who coincidentally started in the industry with a song of the same name) and Anitta, whose native tongues are English and Portuguese, sing along with Reyes in the Spanish-language parts of the chorus. The visuals were helmed by Eif Rivera and shot in Los Angeles.

The 23-year-old Reyes was signed to Prince Royce's Label D'Leon under Warner Bros. at 16 and released her debut album Louder! in 2017. Similar to Becky G and Natti Natasha with “Sin Pajama,” she's now making a “girl power” statement — letting the industry and consumers know that women can collaborate on an international level, instead of being pitted against one another as they so often are.
