After taking a 3-month hiatus to focus on her health, Selena Gomez is finally speaking up. The singer spoke to The Thrive Global about staying healthy and positive in her first interview post rehab.

Gomez not only revealed that she took a much-needed break from her phone for 90 days, but she also shared her favorite quote during difficult times: “You are not what happened to you, you are what you chose to become after what happened to you.”

The Hands to Myself singer also said that the first thing she does in the morning is “drink water, stretch, and take a deep breath,” and when she finds time, she stays positive with “self-affirmations in cooking or napping.”

Gomez recently returned to the spotlight at the American Music Awards last month, where she delivered a moving speech. “I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside,” she said on stage. “If you are broken, you do not have to stay broken.”
