People en Español’s 50 Most Beautiful issue is out, and five fierce females grace its coveted cover this year. Mexican actresses Eiza González, Yalitza Aparicio and Kate del Castillo join Puerto Rican American actress Gina Rodríguez and Dominican singer Natti Natasha. Get inspired by these powerful quotes from the cover girls!
FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCT
“I learned to listen to myself, to what I want, to my body’s reactions. I didn’t do that before. It’s all about instinct,” says Mexican actress Kate Del Castillo with her compatriota Yalitza Aparicio.
PAVING THE WAY
Newly wed Gina Rodríguez wants to keep opening doors for new Latinx talents. The Jane the Virgin star said: “Jane has also taught me where my power lies. Jane actually taught me that my power was behind the camera, as to why I started my company, as to why I started directing, being able to story-tell in a much greater space and also being able to do what I want to do, which is create other stars, I want to give other people the dream that was given to me.”
There was zero rivalry and cattiness during People en Español‘s cover shoot with these five leading ladies in LA. “It has been a very unique experience to spend time with women who are representing Latin women so well and embody female empowerment,” said Natti Natasha. “It’s been incredible seeing them, feeling them, spending time with them —each with their own history, path and experiences— and yet there is such good energy among all.”
“Everyone has a story to tell and everybody has a journey and they’re all different and there is no comparison because we each walk our own path,” says Gina Rodríguez (taking a peek at cover photos with Natti Natasha). “We’re not competing, we’re not comparing.”
THE BEAUTY OF RISKS
“I will share all my memories with them, tell them about this beautiful experience,” the Roma star says about what she will tell her future kids about life in Hollywood. “I will also teach them what could happen when you leave your comfort zone and dare to achieve more.”
ONE DAY AT A TIME
“I haven’t set new goals for myself since a year ago,” admits Kate Del Castillo. “I live one day at a time, I don’t worry. I want to keep working, which is what makes me the happiest. Maybe I’ll plan a vacation to see if I meet the love of my life,” she adds with a laugh.
“I’ve grown from a girl to a woman, and life changes,” reflects Eiza González. “I feel better than ever now. I can gain or lose weight, I’m thin or not so thin and I really feel good in all my stages. I’m forgiving myself more and allowing myself to be happy. When I’m happy, that’s when I feel the most beautiful.”
LIVE THE MOMENT
“Life is in seasons, there are times you where you are full, times where you feel you’re on empty. And they’re all necessary and all needed.”
HARD WORK PAYS OFF
“Everything you see right now is the result of many past experiences, of learning from the process, of a lot of confidence, discipline and telling myself: ‘One day it will all come’,” concludes Natti Natasha. “That’s what I’m witnessing today and there is a lot more to come.”
