Meet Chelsea Cabarcas: Kicking Forward Against All Odds
Love for the Game
Chelsea has been a part of Colombia's national soccer team for 9 years, starting at the age of 16. She was introduced to the sport at 3 years old.
When she arrived to Colombia to play, Chelsea had a hard time fitting in. The other players weren't too welcoming of someone who wasn't a native to the country. She revealed: "They made my life a living hell."
Her journey in the soccer world was supposed to come to an end after going through three surgeries in 2014. "The doctors told me that I couldn't play [soccer] again." Cabarcas fought against the odds, learned to walk again and found herself back on the field.
On her many list of talents, the young Latina is also a radio sports reporter live on Shade 45 every Monday. She has reported for Hot 97, One World Sports and ESPN Deportes.
Cleats Off, Heels On
When she isn't in her uniform, Cabarcas says that—to everyones suprise—she's a girly girl, who's into fashion and loves to "get a facial in between practices."
Live With Chelsea
The reporter is inspired by Kelly Ripa, host of LIVE with Kelly (ABC). "I'm obsessed with her because she's more of my style on camera," she shared.
Sky is the Limit
The sports player plans to play in the World Cup. You go girl!
