Chef Lorena Garcia Shares a Sweet, Easy Recipe to Make for Mom on Mother’s Day
Chef Lorena Garcia is the author of two bestselling cookbooks and has opened multiple restaurants, including Chica at The Venetian Las Vegas. That would make her the first Latina chef to be featured on the Strip. She’s also a happy mom to her son Leo. To help you make a delicious meal for the mom or mom-like person in your life — on Mother’s Day or any day — Chef Lorena shares this recipe that anyone can prepare.
Chef Lorena loves to pamper her mother with her favorite dishes, natural juices and a day at the spa.
Her preferred meal during Mother’s Day is brunch, which is a perfect time to treat moms with something sweet like her lemon fritters, served at Chica in Las Vegas.
”I always think that the best gifts are those that come from the heart. What better gift than something made by your loved one in the kitchen?“ says Garcia.
Buñuelos with white chocolate sauce and fruit sauce
3/4 cup all-purpose Flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 grated lemon
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of ricotta
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons of sugar
Vegetable oil for frying (the amount depends on the use of the pot)
Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl. Combine the liquid ingredients in another. In a saucepan, place enough oil to cover (4 inches from the bottom) to fry, and heat until it reaches 325 degrees. Remove the dough with a spoon and pour into the 325-degree oil and fry until golden brown. Cook only 3-4 at a time, so that the temperature of the oil won’t drop.
Remove the buñuelos when they are ready and place them on paper towel to drain the excess oil.
White chocolate sauce
1 white chocolate bar
1 can of condensed milk
1/2 can of evaporated milk
1 tablespoon of vanilla
In a small pot, over medium-low heat, place all the ingredients and stir constantly until the chocolate melts and all the ingredients are well incorporated.
1 pint strawberries
1 pint blueberries
1 pint raspberries
1 cup of lemon juice
3 tablespoons of honey
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and leave for 20 minutes and then put it through the blender.
