Zayda Peña Arjona Shot and Killed
According to the show La oreja (Televisa), Mexican singer Zayda Peña Arjona was shot and killed along with another man and woman at the Mónaco motel in the border town Matamoros, Tamaulipas, in Mexico. Peña, 28, was a member of the musical group Zayda y Los Culpables.
The young artist died on Saturday, Dec. 1, after being hit with a bullet that entered in her back and eventually left her body through her chin. Paramedics came to the aid of the “Amor illegal” singer, who was taken to the Alfredo Pumarejo hospital.
Reports also inform that before going into surgery, two hit men arrived at the scene with the intention of finishing her off. The assassins were able to enter the hospital because of a lack of security. The police later reported the discovery of an abandoned car that could have belonged to those responsible for the crime.
Peña was the daughter of Blanca Aidé Arjona, who works in the public prosecutor's office. Admirers and colleagues held vigil for the singer in Matamoros.
