Sara Ramírez is speaking out against discrimination and supporting the gay community. The 32-year-old actress from Mazatlán, Mexico, appears in a new publicity campaign for the gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

A Message from Grey’s Anatomy’s Sara Ramirez

“Sara’s beloved by millions of Grey’s Anatomy fans, which makes her a terrific person to share this message of support. The fact that she delivers this positive message in Spanish will help many people understand how words can hurt the gay and transgender people around them,” GLAAD’s Director of Spanish Language Media Mónica Trasandes said.

In the 30-second video, the actress’s message is clear – don’t discriminate against people because of their sexual orientation or their manner of expressing themselves. The video is part of a new GLAAD publicity campaign called “Be an Ally & a Friend,” which features 22 celebrity spokespersons from the television, film and sports industry.
