Being in the spotlight has its consequences. David Hernández, the Latino finalist on American Idol (FOX), could be kicked out of the competition after scandalous details about his past went public today.

The 24-year-old's good reputation was tarnished when his former boss revealed that Hernández used to work in a gay strip club in Phoenix, Az. “He had the look and the type that people like, so he made pretty good money here,” Dick's Cabaret manager Gordy Bryan said, according to Associated Press. Bryan went on to say that Hernández worked as a stripper at the locale for three years, only to leave in September 2007, three months before auditioning for American Idol in San Diego.

So far Hernández hasn't denied the reports, and FOX hasn't commented on the matter. It's uncertain whether or not the contestant will be permitted to stay in the competition. In 2003, a finalist was kicked off the show after photos of her surfaced on an adult Internet site.
