After a year-long separation, the couple is taking official steps to end their four-year marriage
On Oct. 25, soccer player Rafa Márquez and his soon-to-be ex-wife, actress Adriana Lavat, went to a family court in Barcelona to begin the process of ending their union.
Márquez, 28, and Lavat arrived separately with their lawyers and avoided all contact, according to a Spanish magazine. The two have been married for four years and have two children, Santiago and Rafaela.
The two met in 2001 and tied the knot a year later. In January 2006, Lavat made their separation public when faced with rumors that he was seeing Alejandro Sanz’s ex-wife, Jaydy Mitchel.
