Penélope Cruz & Javier Bardem To Star In Film Version Of Broadway Musical
Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem are currently in Spain shooting Woody Allen's next movie and by all accounts they have a good chemistry. Both are in negotiations over co-starring in the movie Nine, based on the Broadway musical starring Antonio Banderas.
Variety reports that Rob Marshall, who directed Chicago) and Harvey Weinstein, offered Bardem, 38, the role of Guido Contini, a filmmaker facing personal and creative crises while trying to come to terms with several women: his wife, his mistress, his mother and his muse. Cruz, 33, might take the role of Carla, the mistress.
Other stars on tap for this movie include Catherine Zeta-Jones, as Contini's muse and Sophia Loren, as the beleaguered director's mother. The sexy script plus Rob Marshall as director, has caught the attention of many Hollywood actresses.
