Our 50 Most Beautiful 2007: The Cover Story
For the 2007 edition of the 50 Most Beautiful, PEOPLE en Español editors gathered eight of today's most popular stars under the same roof. Novela actresses Angélica Vale and Adamari López joined the singers of Amor Gitano, talented Alejandro Fernández and gorgeous Beyoncé Knowles, who was chosen an “honorary beauty,” even though she doesn't have Hispanic roots, due to her interest in our culture and music, which gave us a list of 51 beauties this year.
Other cover beauties were TV hosts Bárbara Bermudo and Candela Ferro, novela actress Ludwika Paleta and Mexican-American actor Mario López. “All I knew was that when you're young at heart, you don't stop to think about how you are going to do it,” said of her unexpected success América Ferrera, star of television's Ugly Betty, produced by Salma Hayek, also on the list this year. Fellow Mexican actress Angélica Vale said she was thrilled with her character, Lety, in the novela La Fea Más Bella. “This year, I was very comfortable because I didn't have to wear high heels, stay on top of my makeup,” Vale said. “It was wonderful.”
The leading men on the list this year include Mexican actor Jaime Camil and Puerto Rican singers Ricky Martin and Chayanne. They were joined by Aventura band member Anthony Santos, who was photographed alongside La 5ta. Estación singer Natalia Jiménez. Featured in this issue for the first time was singer Eduardo Cruz, who is joined on the list by his Madrid-born sister, actress Penélope Cruz.
Among this year's beauties were Ninel Conde, Gloria Trevi and Dulce María of RBD. Returning once again to the list were Puerto Rican singer and actress Jennifer López and newly minted radio host Thalía.
Editors also picked Ilia Calderón, Candela Ferro and Giselle Blondet as most beautiful television personalities , while Carmen Dominicci and Fernando del Rincón were chosen as the most beautiful couple.
Talented artist Beyoncé Knowles, who is doing a crossover into the Hispanic market with a musical production that includes duos with singers such as Alejandro Fernández and Shakira, spoke about how much she admires El Potrillo. “He is very humble, very good looking. He has a voice that leaves you in a trance. It has a beautiful and sexy tone. I fell in love with his voice,” Knowles said. The magazine will also have a one-hour TV special on the entertainment news show Extra, which will be broadcast May 19th and 20th.
