Indie artist Casey Dienel of White Hinterland is suing Justin Bieber over his hit song “Sorry.” Dienel claims that Bieber used a sample from her 2014 song “Ring the Bell.”
“The writers, producers, and performers of “Sorry” did not obtain a license for this exploitation of my work, nor did they obtain or seek my permission. Yesterday afternoon, I filed a lawsuit for copyright infringement against Justin Bieber and the other responsible parties,” explained Dienel on her Facebook page.
Casey also stated that after the release of “Sorry,” her lawyers sent Bieber a letter in regards to the infringement and it was ignored. She also claims that the pop star’s team denied private dialogue.
