Dozens of Colombian stars got together last night in Miami to raise awareness about social problems in their country.

The event Be Live 2007 boasted the presence of singers like Juanes, Fanny Lú and Fonseca, NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya, designer Silvia Tcherassi, fashion expert Rodner Figueroa and El Gordo y La Flaca (Univisión) host Raúl de Molina.

The gala included an auction of celebrity items to raise money for social needs projects in Colombia. One of the objects donors bid on was the guitar used by Juanes during an unplugged concert; fellow Colombian musician Fonseca bought the instrument, a generous gesture to show his admiration for the “A Dios le pido” singer.

Also sold at the auction were books signed by author Gabriel García Márquez, palettes signed by painter Fernando Botero and one of Montoya's auto-racing helmets, among other high-profile items used to collect funds to aid education, health and housing programs for thousands of Colombian children.
