Jordana Brewster is busier than ever. The Fast and Furious actress is joining the cast of ABC’s Secrets & Lies this Fall and has joined the cast of Fox’s Lethal Weapon.
Brewster is adding more onto her plate and she’s teaming up with POND’s for the #AntiAgeLimits initiative to fight the belief that age limits could hold women back after the company uncovered that a high percentage of women including Millennials feel the pressure of society’s age limits.
With all these new projects stirring, Brewster took the time to speak to us about all things beauty.
As an actress and woman with a busy lifestyle that has to wear makeup for movies, photoshoots, events, etc., what do you believe is the most important aspect of skincare?
Jordana Brewster: The two most important aspects of my skincare routine are to thoroughly cleanse and moisturize. I always keep POND’S Towelettes in my bag and as soon as I leave the set, I’ll take all my makeup off so my skin can breathe. At night, first I’ll clean my skin and then I apply POND’S Rejuveness so my complexion is moisturized, glowing and dewy the next day. It also helps fight those little, fine lines.
How does your makeup and skincare routine change from colder months to summer months?
JB: In the winter months, I’ll turn to a grapeseed oil-based eye makeup remover since it’s less drying to the eye area. I also use coconut oil on my body because my skin gets much drier as the temperatures drop. For makeup, I apply more bronzer and blush in the winter because I don’t like looking super washed out. For the summer I switch to a more JLO-inspired glowy skin look with light mascara and lip gloss
What are 5 beauty products that you can’t live without during the summer?
JB: Hair elastics from Emi J
Lip gloss by Glossier
Waterproof Mascara by Armani
An SPF 50 spray sunscreen (I hate when it’s messy and leaks in my bag!)
A really good bronzer
Any fun tips for summer beauty?
JB: I like to mix my foundation with SPF to create a pretty bronzy color that also has built-in sun protection. You really get more bang for your buck.
What’s the one piece of advice that you would give to teens and young women about skincare?
JB: It’s so important to protect what you have. You need to start a nourishing skincare routine early, wear sunscreen every day and take steps to maintain your youthful complexion so you don’t have to try to fix it later in life. I would never resort to anything drastic as you get older, though.
Tell us one funny beauty mistake you’ve made in the past and what you learned from it.
JB: Recently, I wore this beautiful coral red lipstick, but I was on the go that day, and didn’t spend a lot of time in front of the mirror. I thought it looked really cool, and then my sister pointed out how it was on my teeth and my husband spotted some on my chin. It was basically on everything but my lips. I’m just not sure how to keep bold colors in place!
What have you learned about your skin over the years and how has it affected the way you care for it?
JB: The importance of skincare! I’ve always taken really good care of my skin, even in my teens and 20s, because mom told me so. It made me see how much better I feel when my skin is properly hydrated. Skincare is a lifelong commitment.
