With the debut of the much-awaited single “I Love It,” Cuban heartthrob Jencarlos Canela—who has always seen himself more as a singer than an actor—trailblazes his return to music, while preparing the release of his new record for the end of August.

Canela recently finalized his contract with Telemundo and “I Love It” is playing strong on Univisión Radio and other stations.

The singer will present the songs on his new album during his performance at the 2013 Festival People en Español, to be held in San Antonio, Texas, during Labor Day weekend: August 31st and September 1st.

“I am very excited about the Festival People en Español gig, as I’ll be debuting many of the songs to will be included in my next musical production,” Jencarlos told People en Español.

The festival will also feature Gloria Estefan, Wisin y Yandel, Demi Lovato, Alejandro Fernández, 3Ball MTY and Frankie J, among others. The nights of concerts will be produced by Emilio Estefan.
