The Cuban singer's mom had an emergency operation on Monday for an intestinal infection
According to the website E! Online, Gloria Estefan’s mom, Gloria Fajardo, is in critical condition following an operation she underwent yesterday at a Miami hospital.
Reports inform that Fajardo, 78, was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after suffering from abdominal pain. Doctors discovered an intestinal rupture that caused a severe infection. She was immediately taken in for surgery.
When the singer, 50, found out about her mother’s state while in Los Angeles promoting her new CD 90 millas, she cancelled several shows and immediately went to Miami. The “Mi tierra” singer postponed performances on Dancing with the Stars (ABC), The Tonight Show (NBC) and The Ellen Degeneres Show (WNBC).
“Gloria flew on the first flight out of L.A. to Miami to be by her side,” a representative at Estefan Enterprises said. “She thanks her fans for their prayers and support during this difficult time.”
