Following the Oct. 31 attack that left him bloody and half-naked in front of a Mexico City hotel, Fabián Lavalle opened up about the shocking incident on the show Muévete (Televisa).

The 57-year-old journalist, better known as Fabiruchis, expressed how thankful he is for surviving the attack. “When I was in the hospital, I asked the Virgin Mary to take me to her if I couldn’t recover, but if I was going to be ok, I asked that she give me another chance,” he said on the Mexican program. “I just celebrated my 45th day of rebirth.”

For now, Lavalle and his lawyers are putting their efforts into the lawsuit against Alfredo Cervantes Landa, attacker and supposed friend of the journalist. During the interview, he didn’t go into detail about the incident or his relationship with the prostitute, but he did mention that the truth would be revealed soon.

“I know that the healing process will happen little by little. Getting visits from my friends…helped me move forward and showed me that life is still smiling on me,” he continued. Fabiruchis then thanked the press for handling his case with respect, and for those who made fun of him, Lavalle only said “God bless them.”
