Eva Mendes Checked into Rehab
The Ghost Rider actress has been at a center in Utah for a few weeks, her rep says
Today it was revealed that Eva Mendes, 33, has been checked in to Utah's Cirque Lodge rehabilitation center for a few weeks. The actress' rep told TMZ.com about her substance abuse problem, but no details about her addiction were revealed.
“Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support,” her rep said of the actress of Cuban descent. “Out of respect for Eva's privacy, we do not wish to discuss further details.”
According to People.com, Mendes told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival last year that in order to do a sex scene with Joaquin Phoenix for the movie We Own the Night, she had to have a drink first. It's possible that her addiction is alcohol-related, but the specifics of her affliction haven't been confirmed.
