Fully recovered from his surgery after his arm was injured during a rehearsal for Dancing with the Stars (ABC), Cristián de la Fuente announced that he’ll join the cast of televovela Fuego en la Sangre (Univisión) to rival Juan Reyes (the character played by Eduardo Yáñez).

“I’m going to be Damián Ferrer, a character who escapes his past and comes to this town to live a new life. He lives an isolated life with his horses and his dog, and surprises himself when he falls in love with Sofía, played by Adela Noriega. That’s where their love story begins, and hopefully there’ll be a happy ending,” the 34-year-old Chilean actor told Televisa Espectáculos.

And although the dancer will only stay in Mexico for three months to tape the telenovela, he plans on giving a performance that will give Eduardo Yáñez a run for his money. “Watch out Juan Reyes, cause here comes Damián!” he jokingly warned.

Salvador Mejía, producer of the telenovela, explained that the reason behind hiring the actor, who joins a cast including Sofía Vergara, Niurka Marcos, Julissa, Ernesto Laguardia, among others, is to add something fresh to the story so that fans can enjoy a better show.
