#ChicaBoss: Meet Latina Designer Jordan Saenz
At only 27-years-old, Jordan Saenz is making her mark in the world of fashion. The Mexican-American designer has her own luxury clothing line, called Jordan Alexandra, that launched last fall.
The luxe brand used to be manufactured in New York City's garment district, but Jordan's latest collection will be coming out of a family owned factory in Mexico. “This is where we all started. For me, it's going back to my heritage,” she told Chica.
The young designer, from Loredo, Texas, is just getting started with the brand but is no rookie to the industry. Jordan has gathered experience while working under the direction of Zac Posen, Oscar de la Renta, and Betsey Johnson—all of which gave her an idea of how to run her own business.

With so many imitations in the industry, Jordan places a strong focus on the quality of craftsmanship and the power of unconventional combinations. The designer takes inspiration from “working with two different concepts and combining them into one canvas.”
And what helps this #ChicaBoss stay motivated? Staying close to her roots— her family, which she says is the “backbone” of where she is today. “Coming from a Latino family, I'm very close to my parents. I talk to my mom five times a day. I think that with this industry, it's so cut throat and truly stressful—without all that closeness and support, I would not be doing this right now,” said Saenz.
Already working on next year's spring collection, Jordan is trying new ideas and experimenting with rich colors, textures, and geometric shapes. The Latina designer was inspired by the colors and architecture of the colonial-era city, San Miguel de Allende in Mexico.
With Fashion Week right around the corner, we're excited to see what Jordan Alexandra has in store. Check out her lastest collection at jordan-alexandra.com.
