The book El hijo del ajedrecista, by Fernando Rodríguez Mondragón, the first child of Cali Cartel leader Gilberto Rodríguez, still hasn’t hit book stores but is already causing an uproar.

It turns out that the text, which goes on sale in Colombia in a few days, and in which Rodríguez Mondragón discusses the life of one of the most powerful narco-traffickers in the world, mentions stars like María Antonieta de las Nieves {La Chilindrina}, Juan Gabriel and Roberto Gómez Bolaños {Chespirito} for having participated in parties put on by notorious narc dealers.

“I’ve never had any knowledge about acting for any of them. But I want to clarify that as an artist, when I do a show, I don’t ask for the identification of all who attend, or for letters of recommendation or for criminal records; nor can I assure you that all of the companies that have hired me throughout my career have been honorable and haven’t been linked to shady characters,” stated the comedian, 78, in a press release.

Chespirito added that he doesn’t recognize any of the names of the supposed narco-traffickers who are pointed out in Rodríguez Mondragón’s book.
