The late Celia Cruz’s family was happy to hear in a New Jersey court yesterday that Guarachera‘s $2.5 million dollars will be returned to her family.
Her former accountant Luis Falcón, who was in charge of her finances, will not only have to pay the money back, but in addition owes he singer’s sisters $413,000, for cashing in on her life insurance policy.
“Thank God everything is getting resolved,” said Omer Pardillo, the salsera’s former manager.
The judge ordered that the payments be made to Gladys Bécquer, Celia’s sister, and Ernestina Moracen-Knight,, the step-daughter of Celia.
Celia Cruz died in her home in New Jersey in July 2003 at 77, from a brain tumor.
