Enrique Iglesias is warming up for Euro 2008, the tournament that reunites the best soccer teams in Europe. The Spanish singer will not be kicking the ball around though, he will perform “Can You Hear Me?” at the event’s closing ceremony.

Enrique inherited his passion for soccer from his dad, Spanish balladeer Julio Iglesias, who was a goalie for Real Madrid. It’s in his blood!

“I’m thrilled to be able to contribute to the soccer tournament in Austria and Switzerland. It will be an honor for me to perform at the final,” the 33-year-old Spanish singer stated in a press release.

The single, produced by Universal Music, will go on sale this Friday, a day before the tournament (which will end on June 29th) kicks off.

“Can You Hear Me” will also be included in a special edition of Insomniac, which will go on sale June 17th. Since its original release, the album has received various gold and platinum records worldwide.

Iglesias will soon release the second single of his greatest hits album Uno 95/08, crowned number one on the Billboard charts for five weeks.
