The Oscar nominated actress of Babel will play a medium in Sam Raimi's Drag me to Hell
Mexican actress Adriana Barraza isn’t scared of anything, and to prove it she’s willing to go to hell and back–at least on the big screen. She’s confirmed that she has signed on to star in terror flick Drag me to Hell director by Sam Raimi (Spiderman), which marks a new path in her professional career.
The actress, nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Babel, said she was offered the role after a video audition proved to Raimi that she was exactly who he was looking for to round out the cast for the new project, which will be produced by Fox in Los Angeles.
“I was not in the United States at the time, and I knew it was a difficult character, so I sent a taped audition from Argentina to Sam and he liked it a lot. Since then, I’ve had a few conversations with him over the phone to talk about the role and to see when I can start filming with them,” said the 52-year-old star to the EFE agency.
Barraza will play the role of a medium who tries to save the leading lady from evil spirits, an intense character that’s very different from anything she’s been accustomed to play in the past.
