Only days before visiting her country of origin, the Dominican Republic, Claribel Pérez was in serious need of a makeover. She had not dyed her hair for months and her natural dark tone was showing at the roots. Plus, it was difficult for her to deal with her curls.

THE RIGHT CUT
According to our expert, Christo, Claribel needed the right cut for her curls, which she likes so much. "You have to fix the cut, because he haircut now looks like a pyramid," the stylist told us while performing a bob cut with long layers.

A NEW COLOR
The orange tone Claribel had in her hair didn't match her skin color, so our stylist chose a caramel base color with gold highlights. The hair was "extremely dry due to all the dying," so he applied the Colorective treatment in Smart Blonde, from his Curlisto line. "This is a color treatment that moisturizes the hair, prevents friziness and leaves it shiny."

THE PERFECT CURLS
To achieve the perfect curls, Christo parted the hair in five sections. He mixed a small portion of Repair Styling Cream, Control II Gel and Structura Lotion and applied it to the hair section by section, beginning in the back and combing with his fingers, making sure each section absorbed the products.

Before applying any makeup, makeup artist Jessica Venus for Christo Fifth Avenue applied Mary Kay's Advanced Moisture Renewal Treatment cream, which "moisturizes the skin and allows the makeup to go on smoothly." Jessica also recommends the TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set system of the same brand once or twice a week to remove dead skin from the face.

AN EXPERT'S TRICK
Claribel suffers from hyperpigmentation due to years of not using sunscreen. Jessica covered the spots with MAC's Studio Stick SPF 15 Foundation in a tone darker than her skin, and then applyed a lighter tone, similar to her skin. This helps to level the skin's pigments. To apply the base, Jessica recommends a small brush instead of a sponge, because it fills the skin beller.

Our makeup artist finished by applying Make Up For Ever's translucent HD Microfinish Powder, which she considers one of the best. "It's so fine that you don't need to use too much and it goes with any skin color," she said.

THE FINAL RESULT
Besides the curly style, Christo also straightened her hair, giving her two options. "I like the way the curls came out. They look soft and manageable. And I love the highlights," our model said after seeing the final result.
