During a routine exam in August of 2007, the Mexican rocker was diagnosed with a breast tumor, which was later removed. "To be honest, I didn't expect a situation like that. Fortunately, having a timely medical exam allowed me to learn about this reality. Only 1% of cancer cases are detected early," the singer said then. She has since participated in various campaigns to fight cancer.

The Australian singer confessed that after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, she had psychological and emotional problems and her body changed. "I was misdiagnosed initially so my message to everyone at home is that because someone is in a white coat and using big medical instruments doesn't mean they are right," Minogue said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. At first, her doctors did not find anything abnormal and weeks later, while she was on tour, she had to stop touring to undergo chemotherapy.

The lawyer and hostess of the show Caso cerrado (Telemundo) insists on the importance of women performing self exams once a month to detect the disease early. When she found a small lump in her breast, she had a mammogram that showed she had cancer. "My faith helped me a lot, as well as early detection," she said. Polo is involved in cancer prevention campaigns.

In August of 2008, PEOPLE broke the news that comediant had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Days later, Applegate confirmed she had a double mastectomy to keep the disease from spreading. "This was the decision I made, it was a very difficult one,'' she said on Good Morning America (ABC).

In February of 2006, the singer got the bad news. She had a lumpectomy and chose to share her experience with millions of women. "As a breast cancer survivor, I am a testament of the importance of early detection and new treatments," Crow said. "I encourage women and men everywhere to advocate for themselves and for their future."

She decided to keep working and hide her illness for a year until she finished her treatment. The Sex And The City actress battled breast cancer secretly from 2006 to 2008. She said it was to avoid the attention of the press during that difficult time. She had a lymphectomy and was in radiation for six and a half weeks, according to her interview on Good Morning America (ABC). Her mother also battled the illness on two occasions. The actress later became a spokesperson for Susan G. Komen For The Cure.

She also spoke about her love of life and the motivation to keep fighting this illness. "There is a long way to go and it's well worth the fight."
