After a four-year hiatus in the United States, Mexican actor and singer Yahir, 28, has snagged a starring role in the telenovela Bellezas indomables. The TV series kicks off tonight at 10 p.m., Eastern Time, on Azteca América.
The pop star will tackle the role of the main character, Manuel, the son of María Fernanda’s (Claudia Álvarez)nanny. “It’s a pleasure to work on this novela; what María Fernanda and I experience is truly difficult. Most of the time we’re fighting and suffering while together,” the actor said in a press release.
Under the direction of Martín Luna, the plot tells the story of three sisters who lose their riches and have to learn how to survive without money, in addition to finding true love. The cast also boasts actors like Betty Monroe, Tomás Goros, Carlos Torres, Alberto Casanova and Mayra Rojas, among others.
This is the third telenovela featuring the “Márcame la piel” artist, whose song is the theme for the soap. Yahir also starred in the Mexican shows Enamórate (2003) and Soñarás (2004-05).
