Since Shakira wasn’t able to attend the Concert for Peace performed by Juanes and other artists Sunday on the Colombia-Venezuela border, she expressed how proud she was of the successful event in a video.

“As a Colombian my heart is brimming with emotion to think of my country as so unified. I want to especially give a hug to Juanes, and to all of the event’s organizers, my friends Alejandro Sanz, Miguel Bosé, Carlos Vives, Juan Luis Guerra and Miguel Bosé,” she said, wearing an all-white outfit like those worn by the artists at the performance.

The singer also mentioned that she spoke with Colombian President Álvaro Uribe, and that she was relieved to find out that the countries in the region remain unified. “I ask God with all of my strength to create lasting peace in our country for everyone,” she said.

Juanes came up with the idea for the concert in the hopes of promoting peace in the region following the death of Raúl Reyes, a prominent figure of the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia), who was killed by Colombian soldiers on Ecuadorian soil.
