Univisión has revealed its nominees for the upcoming Premios Juventud, in which young people pick the candidates and winners in film, music, sports, pop culture and image and fashion categories.
When it comes to film, the Best Actor or Best Actress categories have been substituted for fun titles like “¡Qué actorazo!” (“What an actor!) and “La que se roba la pantalla” (She steals the show), and top contenders include Antonio Banderas Take the Lead, and Adriana Barraza, for Babel, who are not exactly Spring chickens.
Under music, Shakira is among the favorites for “La que mejor baila” (“Best dancer”), and RBD is a pick for “Voz del momento” (“The voice of the moment”) , “Los más pegajosos”” “The group I can’t get out of my head”) and “Me muero sin ese CD” (“I’d die without that CD”). Yuridia, who achieved popularity thanks to a show on a competing network, Azteca América, is among those nominated under the category “Canción corta–venas” (“Slit-your-wrist song”).
Among the athletes of the year, five Mexican soccer players, – among them Rafa Márquez – will vie for the award to “El deportista de alto voltaje” (“High-voltage sports figure”), and when it comes to the ladies, it’s a battle between a runner, a golf player, a soccer player, a race-car driver and a surfer, all from different parts of the world.
In the image and fashion arena, Anahí, Dulce María, Jennifer López, Ninel Conde and Thalía will compete for the best-dressed award, while Poncho Herrera, Chayanne, Christopher Uckermann, Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi are the male contenders.
Finally, under pop culture, the young users of Univision.com nominated Ahahí, Dulce María, Shakira, Thalía and Ricky Martin as their idols.
