Although Paulina Rubio wanted to quietly ring in her 37th birthday next Tuesday, it looks like there’ll be a dark cloud over the celebration now that various international publications have confirmed that the singer refuses to accept responsibility for purportedly hitting a photographer in Miami and refusing to pay the female paparazzo the money she asked for when she filed a lawsuit against the singer.
As a result, a judge has appointed a mediator to help the golden girl to come to an agreement with the plaintiff, Luz Amanda Orozco, who is asking the “Te Quise Tanto” singer for $500,000 in injuries and damages incurred when the singer pummeled her with her purse while the photographer was trying to take pictures of the star at the Miami airport in September 2006.
The wife of Nicolás Vallejo Nájera has not only denied the accusations, despite an existing video that recorded the incident, but she also accuses the photographer of being irresponsible. Moreover, the singer claims that she was physically abused by another photographer at the scene who was so aggressive, that her buttons were ripped off her own shirt.
Although the photographer did not comment on the judge’s decision, she hopes justice will be served and that she will be compensated for the physical and mental harm she suffered, insisting that if Rubino doesn’t want to reach an agreement, she is ready to go to trial. Telefutura reported that the paparazzo would even consider signing the settlement if she was offered $15,000.
