Although she’s starred in movies before –in 1995’s Bésame en la boca– Paulina Rubio’s passion was always music.música. Years later, after forming a big fan base in Spain, the golden girl is returning to the big screen, this time as an executive producer of a Spanish film festival event called ES.CINE 2008 that will be hosted in Mexico.
“I’ve always loved movies, since I was little, because of my mother’s career. Movies are part of our lives,” said the daughter of Susana Dosamantes during a recent press conference.
The screening will be produced by LUCC Media, the production company formed by the singer and her brother Enrique Rubio, and will present more than 15 Spanish films from November 20-27. Some of the films include: El camino de los ingleses, by Antonio Banderas; Mataharis, by Icíar Bollaín, and Lomejor de mí, by Roser Aguilar.
This is Rubio’s effort to strengthen the ties between Spain and Mexico, with support from Spain’s ambassador in Mexico, Carmelo Angulo Barturén. “Paulina goes to Spain a lot. So there’s a lot of Mexico in Spain, but not the other way around,” noted Barturén.
As far as being in front of the cameras? “I don’t know. Maybe I’ll decide to do a small cameo or something, but I’d like to continue doing my music.
