On Dec. 29, Oscar de la Hoya and his wife Millie Corretjer welcomed a new edition to their family: little Nina Lauren Nenitte de la Hoya. People.com informs that the little girl was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico at 4:36 p.m. local time, weighing 7 lbs., 13 oz., and measuring 20.5″.
“We are so excited and blessed with the new addition to our family!” the boxer of Mexican descent said in a statement. The 34-year-old athlete announced his wife’s pregnancy in May only an hour after losing a match to Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas.
The little girl is De La Hoya’s fourth child and the second for the 33-year-old Puerto Rican singer. The couple’s first child, Oscar Gabriel, was born on Dec. 29, 2005, which means the 2-year-old and his little sister will celebrate their birthdays on the same day.
De La Hoya and Corretjer met in 2000 when they were signed to the same record label that put out the boxer’s debut CD, an effort that won him a GRAMMY nomination. The two married in October 2001 and have stayed together despite reports of De La Hoya’s supposed infidelity.
