Actress and singer Mayra Verónica, 30, and Venezuelan actor Wilmer Valderrama will be visiting U.S. soldiers in the Persian Gulf very soon. The two will be traveling with comedian Russell Peters to entertain thousands of men and women in the military service, doing eight shows in six countries over the course of just six days.
The trip is being organized by USO (United Service Organizations), a nonprofit organization that supports troops in a variety of ways, including sending them entertainment every year. The USO Tour is being led by U.S. Marine Corps General and Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff James Cartwright.
“I am thrilled to be touring with the USO again and to be traveling to the Persian Gulf to entertain troops,” said Valderrama, 27. “The opportunity to travel with General Cartwright, meet with so many service members and offer my thanks is a real honor.”
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, there are currently 1.4 million active-duty U.S. service members and 1.2 million members of the National Guard and Reserves, many serving overseas. The goal of the tour is to lift the spirits of soldiers who are far away from their homes.
