The 8th Annual Latin Grammy Award nominees were announced this Wednesday morning at a press conference in Miami, FL.

Dominican singer/songwriter Juan Luis Guerra, who will be honored as Person of the Year, is the nomination leader with five, followed by Calle 13 and Ricky Martin, both with four nominations.

Also leading the way are singers Miguel Bosé, Franco de Vita, Kevin Johansen, group Orishas and producers Carlos Jean and Zoé, each with three nominations.

This year, the categories Best Urban Song and Best Alternative Song have been added to the list of honors.

“During this eighth year more than five million recordings were judged. The nominations continue to reflect the dynamic and vibrant Latin music community all over the world, which consists of artists, producers, sound engineers, composers and everyone involved with the recording process. This is an opportunity both for established artists and professionals and for the young talent bringing Latin music to new heights to stand out,” says Gabriel Abaroa, President of the Latin Recording Academy.

The ceremony will be held November 8th in Las Vegas , NV, and will air at 8PM / Eastern Time, on Univisión. “The world will be waiting to see what happens on November 8th, and they won’t be disappointed,” Abaroa adds.
