Kate del Castillo and Eugenio Derbez were joined by Jesse García and Ugly Betty (ABC) stars América Ferrera and Tony Plana, among others, at a screening of their new movie Under the Same Moon. The red carpet event took place Tuesday evening at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre.
“I’m very happy that the movie is finally out there. It was time,” Del Castillo said.
The movie has been received well by the public and critics in the United States, which has taken the Mexican actress by surprise. “I never expected this reaction. You just do the best you can in movies. I’m really excited. I hope everyone sees it, because in addition to its positive message, it’s a fun movie,” the 35-year-old Hollywood newcomer said.
Derbez is another new face in the star-studded city. “I’m finally here. I’m dying of excitement. I wanted for it for so long. I’m very, very happy to be part of a movie as fantastic as this one,” he gushed.
The comedic actor, 45, gave drama a try with the new film and he, like Del Castillo, is thrilled by how the film has been embraced in the States. “Sometimes, a movie can all the support, the best actors, the best producers, and nothing happens. That’s the way the film industry is. And all of a sudden there’s an independent movie like this one, one with a lot of heart, and the people laugh, cry, and it has the perfect amount of everything,” Derbez explained.
Under The Same Moon hits theaters March 19.
