Marc Anthony and Jennifer López were welcomed yesterday at PS 36 Port Union in the Bronx, New York, where the pair announced the kickoff of their shared tour. The high-profile couple also made known their new goal: to fight obesity, an affliction that affects children in the United States, especially Latin children.
Between tears, JLo, 38, and Anthony, 39, discussed the importance of motivating kids to play sports in order to lead healthier lives. For this reason, a portion of the tour proceeds and other donations will go to select schools to help develop health and exercise programs.
Adolfo Carrión, president of Bronx County, along with students, teachers and ING executives, are glad to be part of this worthwhile campaign.
The singers will give a series of 19 concerts in 10 different states, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and California. During the shows, the also actress will perform English-language songs from her upcoming album The Brave, which goes on sale Oct. 9, and songs in Spanish from her disc Como ama una mujer. The salsa performer and actor will croon songs both from his Spanish and English repertoire. The tour will first hit stages Sept. 28 in Atlantic City, NJ.
