It can be said that Jerry Seinfeld has been born again. This past Saturday, the comedian was the victim of an accident in which his car flipped over on a highway in the ultra-exclusive Hamptons, NY.
According to the news agency Reuters, the 53-year-old actor was driving at a slow pace when the breaks on his car, a two-door, 1967 Fiat failed to work just before he entered a relatively busy intersection. Seinfeld had to apply the emergency break to avoid crashing into oncoming traffic in a congested area which is what caused the car to flip over.
“It was very astute to pull his emergency break and stop the wheels before entering the intersection,” said Todd Sarris, East Hampton’s Chief of Police, who added the star had not been drinking. “If he would have entered that intersectionwhich is a street with a lot of traffic in East Hampton, this could have been a very serious accident”.
Fortunately, the Seinfeld star came out of the accident unharmed, and his representative Elizabeth Clark-Zoia said damages to the car were minor. The comedian who produced and did voice work forBee Movie joked about the accident and adviced others not to follow his example. “Because I know there are kids out there, I want to make sure they all know that driving without braking is not something I recommend, unless you have professional clown training or a comedy background, as I do,” he said. “It is not something I plan to make a habit.”
Seinfeld is a car buff from way back and owns a great collection of sports cars which is said to include around 47 Porches. In the past, it has been reported that the actor has a garage near his Manhattan, NY, home where some of his vehicles are kept, the construction of which was valued at $14 million.
