Emilio Estefan is hard at work with People en Español to produce the biggest event in Latin culture and music of the year: Festival People en Español, to be held in San Antonio, TX, during Labor Day Weekend.

“Last year, when Monique [Manso, Publisher] from People en Español told me they wanted to create something for San Antonio, I thought it was the perfect thing to have because [Festival People en Español] is a major celebration.” Emilio said recently during an interview with San Antonio radio host DJ Spoon.

The festival will take place on Saturday, August 31st and Sunday, September 1st, with a schedule that includes two days of free activities at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and two nights of concerts at the Alamodome.

For the Cuban producer, Festival “is going to be a great family event. For me, it’s going to be great. Gloria is going to be singing and she hardly does concerts anymore.”

On top of that, Estefan said that evening is Gloria’s birthday, and their wedding anniversary…”so it’s going to be a big night for us!”

“This is only the beginning. And I hope this continues for many, many years,” concluded Estefan.
