Chilean heartthrob Cristián de la Fuente has landed a role in Ugly Betty (ABC), the actor told his native country’s El Mercurio newspaper. “It’s something that’s truly good for my career,” the 33-year-old actor said.

De la Fuente will play Rodrigo, a former Brazilian model turned heartbreaker at Mode magazine, where Betty (América Ferrera) works. The plot calls for De la Fuente to seduce Alexis Meade, played by Rebecca Romijn. So far, plans are for the actor to appear in two episodes of the series, produced by Mexican Salma Hayek. His appearances will be taped throughout the week.

This guest-starring role for De La Fuente comes in addition to In Plain Sight (USA Networks), the series that the actor will tape this summer. The police drama revolves around the Federal Witness Protection Program. De la Fuente will play leading lady Mary McCormack’s boyfriend. The series premieres in 2008.
