During the ongoing inquest into Princess Diana’s August 1997 death, her former butler Paul Burrell revealed some unsettling details about Frances Shand Kydd, Lady Di’s mother. The deceased princess was supposedly called a bad names by her mother for dating a Muslim, People.com reports.
“She called the Princess a ‘whore’ and she said that she was ‘messing around with effing Muslim men,’ and she was ‘disgraceful’ and said some nasty things,” Burrell told the court citing a phone conversation the mother and daughter had in June 2007.
The butler also revealed that his former employer was planning a secret wedding with Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan, whom he claims she was in love with until the day she died.
Burrell was a loyal employee and friend of Lady Di’s for many years. He’s written two bestsellers about the princess.
The inquest into her unexpected death is slated to last until March.
